and other Schools and Colleges in Wiltshire.
The Wiltshire Partnership for Post-16 Transport is made up of representatives from each college and sixth form in Wiltshire as well as Connexions and the Learning & Skills Council.
The Partnership is co-ordinated by transport officers in the Local Education Authority (County Council), and everybody pools their resources and expertise to try to maximise participation in education by students who are over the age of 16.
The Partnership receives some money from the Government which is spent on projects which help to overcome some of the transport barriers that prevent people over the age of 16 attending school or college courses - this year the projects include:
- Setting up a website to help Students quickly establish the Public Transport available to each College and 6th Form School in Wiltshire;
- Establishing a telephone hotline to assist students who may have transport problems to identify possible solutions (01225 757575)
- to help set up a liftshare scheme,
- to install secure cyclesheds at schools and Colleges
- to help fund Link Courses
- to help with Mobility Training for some students.
If you would like to know more about the work of this Partnership, please ring the Wiltshire County Council Passenger Transport Unit on 01225 713397, or the “STAN” helpline 01225 757575.
