Opportunities for disadvantaged young people aged 14 – 25 to develop their music, by giving access to training, recording opportunities and support for live performance. Professional Tuition and help in moving into work for unemployed 18 – 25 year olds. Development awards and start-up loans available.

Awards for Young Musicians (AYM)
Open to British instrumentalists aged from 5 – 18 to apply for awards ranging from £100 to £2,000. Letter of recommendation from a teacher or music establishment and evidence of financial need will be required.

Lawrence Atwell Charity
Applicants must be British aged 16 – 26, not in receipt of a full LEA or equivalent grant and have parental income of under £24,400 (with an additional £2,650 for each other dependant child). Not available for study abroad.

Ann Driver Trust
Grants for exceptionally talented young musicians, resident in the UK, to help with their studies. Part-funding for fees only available for academic courses at specialist schools/colleges.

John Fletcher Trust Fund
Open to brass players under age 20 for advancement of musical education and orchestral playing, who are not already full-time music students at a recognised college of music. Grants totalling £4,000 awarded annually. Applications must be in writing from an approved youth music organisation on behalf of potential players.

Hattori Foundation for Young Musicians, Instrumental Soloists aged 15 – 20
Students who are resident in the UK and have demonstrated both exceptional talent and achievement may apply for financial assistance at any time during the year to attend international competitions or masterclasses within the UK and for specific assistance in the case of hardship. Awards do not cover instrument purchase or post-graduate fees.

Michael James Music Trust
Annual awards to young musicians to advance education in music, particularly performed in Christian setting for enrichment of worship. Priority to organists and choral singers.

Musicians Benevolent Fund (MBF) Music Education Awards
Emily Anderson Prize: Open to students of any nationality under age 21. £2,500 prize with no restrictions on use.
Manoug Parikian Award: Open to exceptionally talented violinists with potential qualities of first-class performer, of any nationality aged under 21. Auditions held in London in October. £3,000 is available for study or instrument purchase.
Guilhermina Suggia Gift for the Cello: Award of £3,000 for exceptionally talented students of any nationality aged under 21.
